hmm… that’s pretty gullible. and i thought most geeks would be able to spot spam when they get it.

i think it’s a bit dumb of the lady to admit that it was a marketing ploy. talk about marketing, LOL! not so that you’d get fooled into it, but you know what i mean? if she really knew marketing and PR she shouldn’t give it away just like that!

Yeah but I think when specifically asked they have to tell the truth. Otherwise that guy from the ACCC (Alan Fells?) would come down on them for blatantly misleading the public.
There’s actually heaps of restrictions on companies these days with how they market.

And yeah wonder how they actually got your details in the first place.

that’s true too. bev, you might wanna check that you haven’t been allowing some company/website to share your info! although sometimes it’s inevitable … πŸ™

Optus shouldn’t be allowed to make false claims like that,
also, they are just annoying people and waisting peoples
time. Then they make 25c out of you when you phone to find
out its fake. Grrrr >:( tell your bf to take you on a holiday

I got the same email too! Are you on Optus? I think they might have gotten our email addresses from Optus. How annoying. ;(
