hey girlie, πŸ™‚

hey u know how ur shopping for furniture and stuff. there is a huge used office furniture? warehouse sale, somewhere in homebush i think. I just remember seeing the words homebush and parramatta on the tv ad. which means two choices. parramatta road, homebush. or homebush road, parramatta. everything is $20 !!!! how good is that. and some of that stuff looked really good. the only downsides is.. well its sat, sun, and monday, and u gotota arrange for it to be moved somehow ( so get a ute). ull have to tune into tv to find out where it is.. i cna’t remember boo.

I did hear about that.. and there are tons of furniture ads on tv – problem is that I don’t have a car to get there! πŸ™ I’m just going to supacentre which is around the kensington area and I should be able to find something.. going tomorrow, so we’ll see!

Please do remember to post some photos of your new apartment. I’ll probably get some inspiration from them since I’m having a mental block thinking of ideas for my upcoming project.

Eastgardens

I really have to butt in here – do check out Eastgardens shopping center after you moved and everything’s settled – I love it there. I live in the city but still go there every week. There’s an Ella Rouge salon and I’m having a microdermabrasion done next week. Will keep you updated on the results.

Cheers,
Danae.

Re: Eastgardens

OMG!! I go there all the time! It’s the closest shopping centre to Uni where I live, so all of us are always there. Plus they have the new 3rd floor so the whole place is so nice and big now. What else does the Ella Rouge salon do? I’ve been to one of the salons (can’t remember the name – it’s one word and they just moved locations from 2nd floor to just outside the shopping centre) for eyebrow waxing but that’s about it. Gluck with your microdermabrasion! πŸ™‚

Re: Eastgardens

Boy, you’re quick! I was just talking on the phone! I remember that I hated taking the bus there when I didn’t have a car back in 1996 (gosh I feel old – I’m 23). Anyways, Ella Rouge is kind of a beauty salon franchise that does manicures, probably pedicures, facial (oxygen, glycolic, all kinds of other cr@p which I haven’t tried) and sells Dermalogica, Ultraceuticals, MD Formulations, Bare Escentuals. Most of these lines I find I can get online much cheaper. I’ve had my eyebrows shaped at Crystallina Aesthetics outside Maroubra Shopping Mall (they’ve sealed up most of it now to build apartments but this salon is outside). There’s a lady called Maissie there who does a really good job for facials and waxing. I contact her directly now so she charges me less. I’ve heard good things from the Vogue board so I’m taking the plunge. Relieves my stress anyhow. I’m supposed to be studying, sigh. Remind me never to sign up for an exam voluntarily – I should be committed for doing it. Then again I need it to find a job.

Do you want to meet up at Eastgardens or in the city someday? My exam’s on 12 Mar and I fly back to Sg 15 Mar, so I can probably see you in between. If not, I think we should still catch up when I come back from San Francisco in May. I’ll be reading your journal online even if I don’t post! I promise I’m not a big hairy old man – in fact, you might remember me from David Jones once you see me. I’m just thinking, it wouldn’t take a lot of persuasion from you to sway me into buying a La Prairie caviar foundation …

Cheers,
Danae.

Re: Eastgardens

Heh I’m just at work.. but I’m about to leave for the day. Y’know I’ve never had a manicure or pedicure – do you reckon they do anything? My nails look quite normal and I’m wondering what a manicure will do and if it’s worth it.. or maybe I should just do it once for the novelty πŸ˜›

Hey what do you mean “remember” you? Have I met you before? Errrr…? Anyway, meeting up would be cool πŸ™‚ We can hang out and shop or catch a movie or whatever. So are you free only between 12-15 March, or are you free say the first weekend of Feb? I’m moving out 1-2 Feb, but after that I’m free on weekends. I *so* want the La Prairie caviar foundation!!!!!!! It’s a decent price considering it comes with a brush and concealer, but I’m scared of slapping down $270 on it. Maybe one day when I’m feeling really really rich πŸ˜‰ But I’ll be sure to persuade you to get it anyhow *lol*

Hey what do you mean “remember” you? Have I met you before? Errrr…? Anyway, I’m free on weekends but I think 12-15 Feb are weekdays πŸ™ But we could go out on Thurs for late night shopping or something? Drop me an email if that’s good with you and we can arrange something.. I *so* want the La Prairie caviar foundation!!!!!!! It’s a decent price considering it comes with a brush and concealer, but I’m scared of slapping down $270 on it. Re: Eastgardens

Hehe, at the risk of sounding really stupid, where do I find your email add? Yup, 13 Feb is a Thursday, so late night shopping in the city sounds good. I can just take a bus home and it’ll still be pretty safe.

Oh, I meant I saw you at DJ’s on Boxing Day, remember? I hadn’t thought to even post on your journal before since I just starting reading it, but it was too much of a coincidence I just couldn’t resist the curiosity. I was supposed to be studying then too … but I digress. I had electric pink nail polish on my nails when I was browsing at Becca, if that helps, but it doesn’t really matter.

Manicures – it’s fun for the first few times, I’ve had two done so far, and the novelty kind of wears off. I prefer it if the salons use non-acetone based np remover but the first one I went to just used acetone, and didn’t use a base coat. The polish was decent, some kind of korean brand but it stained my nails anyhow. This was a 30min manicure for $20. I nicked the polish as soon as I walked out so I wasn’t too happy. Second one was a 60 min one at the Aveda salon in Chatswood chase. Great service, OPI polish though color selection was a bit lacking, Seche Vite base and top coat which were really hardy after it dried, and good hygiene – washed everything properly with soap and water. (The first one just wiped with minimal alcohol and she didn’t even wait for it to dry on the tools before pushing back my cuticles.) Great hand massage and parrafin treatment, but my complaints are that the lady who did it, while polite, was a bit unenthusiastic which put me off a little, and there was no nail dryer so I nicked the polish again right after I left. Salons don’t usually buff as meticulously as I do – I like really smooth nails, so I won’t be getting another professional manicure for a long time.

Seriously, I think a pedicure at a clean salon would be more worth the money as it lasts much longer, and it’s more difficult to do your feet yourself. I also cut myself while pushing back my cuticles, if that is another indication I should get someone else to do it for me. I might try it along with a foot massage next time, but I’ve spent enough money this month. Just got my BE 1.2 and Eve Lom cleanser which promises to decongest all my pores. Don’t really believe it, but until I’ve tried EVERYTHING, I’m not convinced.

I just peeled my polish off my nail. I finally know why I’m not supposed to do that. It takes part of the nail surface off. Superficial, but there are ridges on my nail now that I can’t get off by buffing. Luckily, I’ve covered it with a soft shimmery pearl color so it’s not that visible now. I wonder how long it’ll take to grow that out. Sigh …

Let me know where to find your email addy and I’ll give you a buzz.

Cheers,
D.

Re: Eastgardens

[email protected] πŸ™‚ Thurs 13 Feb it is then! We can grab some dinner then wander around the shops or something.. btw, is there any good stuff in the QVB area? I never seem to go there. Hopefully there are some sales on too.. I wanna get some nice summer tops and underwear. Oh, do you prefer the city or Chatswood? Both are about the same distance for me so I’m cool either way.

Euh.. did you say hi to me when you saw me? I don’t remember at all, I have such a bad memory :T If you have a pic of yourself email it to me so I can recognise you when we meet up k? Otherwise i’ll just stand there looking lost until you recognise me, hehehe.

Btw, how much is a manicure and/or pedicure? i’ve peeled polish off my nails before when it was half flaking off, and the top layer of my nail came off too :T I don’t think it does any health damage or whatever, just doesn’t look good! hey btw, what’s your username on MUA? I actually wish we could split the La Prairie foundation or something, it would make it so much more affordable. But while the liquid can be split, the concealer and brush can’t πŸ™ I still really want it though!

Oops, I meant Feb

I mean my exam’s in Feb. Well, we’ll get the dates right some day. BTW, CNY is on 1st & 2nd Feb – I should know. It’s my year of the Chinese zodiac and everyone at home including my mom insists I’m one year older than I am. Yeah, rite!

Please do remember to post some photos of your new apartment. I’ll probably get some inspiration from them since I’m having a mental block thinking of ideas for my upcoming project.

yay! i’m so happy for you. its so exciting to move into a new place, especially one that u really like. moving in and buying all the household stuff is so troublesome though, especially if you dont have a car. all the best!

Good for you:) I can see that you’re really excited coz instead of moving in on “1st or 2nd of Feb”, you’ve stated you’ll be moving in on “1st or 2nd of Jan”……LOL… don’t worry,I know how excited you must be feeling especially since you got the place that you really wanted.
Now make sure you post those pics of your place for nosy parkers like to look at ok?
Great if you could do a b4 and after kind of thing. That’ll be cool:)
Take care and have a great time shopping for your new place:)

*lol* ooooooops!! I totally missed that πŸ˜› And yeah, I’m going to bring my digicam with me on Sat when we sign the lease and take a few pics of it – looks really boring since it’s totally empty with 4 walls, but oh well πŸ˜›

I think CNY’s mid-feb or something? I”m not celebrating it though cos I’m in Australia πŸ™ But my mum’s coming in Feb and she promised to bring lots of goodies with her so Chris and I are drooling in anticipation *lol*!

as far as i know, cny is is definately on the 1st and 2nd of feb, unless of course u celebrate it differently or something. why dont u check wt ur mum. the goodies sounds really good. hope u’ll have fun! πŸ™‚

congrats bev!!! glad to know that you guys have gotten the place that u wanted. i had to view a couple of units prolly a few hundred times before getting the right one simply becoz the appts that we (my hsemates and i) viewed were too expansive or we werent “suitable” tenants (the owner didnt want students :P). but anyways we managed to get a unit that was wayyy cheaper than the rest, clean, livable plus the owner’s really nice.

anyways all the best with moving (again!) to ur new place.

Yeah, we looked at HEAPS of places too.. I’d say 20-30 at least. I’m really glad we got this place – it’s not spanking new but it’s nice and we’re paying for location anyway. Can’t wait to move in!
