Beverly, do you know if it’s cheaper to buy YSL and Chanel dutyfree at Changi airport than at DFS Galleria here? I know Armani is heaps cheaper, but never noticed YSL or Chanel. Also is it at T1 or T2, if you remember?

With thanx,
Danae.

Cool – now I have an excuse to buy it at DFS … Sorry about the double post. I realized I hadn’t put my name in so I stopped it but turned out it was still up. Thanx.

Cheers,
D.

Bills

Also definitely check that all bills such as water gas electricity have been payed by the person who lived there before if you dont pay your bills through your landlord. This happened to my boyfriend and i, we got this huge water bill after we had lived there 3 days, i thought come on how much water have we used lol! Turns out that the estate agents hadnt let the water board know that a new tenant had moved in a few days before and we were being sent bills from past tenants, so make sure all the people you pay bills to know that you are new tenants so you dont end up paying other peoples bills.hth

Re: Bills

OMG that’s such a good point.. thanks for that! We’ll definitely ask before signing anything. Man, there are so many things to think about, watch out for, etc.. my head’s boggling :T

All the best babe! I know what a pain it is to look for an apartment. I’ve been lucky so far though. The first time a friend just directly transferred her lease over to us coz she was going back and the second time we got the apartment the next day after we applied. πŸ™‚ Do be careful abt what housing agent you apply from though, coz the first time we had lots of trouble with them. And lots of friends who are under the same agent complained they have had similar problems with them too.

It’s hell πŸ™ Plus we don’t have a car so it’s exhausting! We’re going with those big agents so hopefully they’ll be ok.. I don’t really know how to handle problems and stuff ‘cos this is totally new to me!

Actually, I’ve had a lot of grief over rentals … When I first came I was underage so my name wasn’t on the “lease” or any of the bills. My flatmates were really nice and took care of that as long as we all contributed (we’re still great friends now). Turns out we weren’t even official – the landlords lived upstairs, just above us and were evading taxes so we weren’t supposed to be there, and the bond wasn’t lodged with the rental board. If it is you should get a notice from the board acknowledging receipt of the money. Also, go through the condition of the house with the agent, from carpet to lighting. If there’s anything that’s not in the list of conditions, report it or even attach it to a separate piece of paper. Not being pedantic but if there are disputes in the future they can’t fault you for it. If there are problems with taps, lighting, garages and public property, make sure you chase up the agent to fix it. If not it’ll be on you. I won’t bore you with details on when you move out. That’ll come later and you’ll probably know what to do by then. I’ve always been a responsible tenant and I just hate it when landlords try to deduct my bond money.

Actually, I was going to ask you whether it was worth signing up for MUA. I used to post at BB and the refuge but stopped because of some silliness. I don’t think I’ll post at MUA but am interested to know if I’m missing anything as a guest. Some people there can get so catty – I’ve seen comments on the bash when I didn’t know what it was all about and just went there by chance.

Cheers,
Danae.

Oh yes, I tried CG again – even ivory is still too dark and too pink … I can comfort myself though – it is a bit drying for me even on my T-zone. Gives me an excuse to buy Chanel then.

Cheers,
D.
