Magpies

I’d have to agree Magpies are worse than ducks. A lot worse.

When i was in primary school there were some magpies situated near the toilets… When it was the summer season they would start to swoop. For anyone going to the toilets, you’d have to wear one of those yellow helmets (like a builder wears) during times that weren’t recess or lunch because there were some instances of pecked heads. I’ve never really thought that iw as a problem besides the fact I live near bush and have heard ppl’s stories about magpies until year 11 when I went for a walk to the local park to do the dodgy exercise regime (planks of wood wear u do sit ups, jumps and cardiovascular crap) that they had.

Let’s just say that the magpie had it in for my friend. I don’t know if it was her dark skin and long hair that made it scary, but everytime she got up we wooosh and the magpie would come ( 3 times!!). We ended up hiding underneath this slightly uplifted plank of wood for about 10 minutes until it forgot about us.. or had calmed down and then dashed away very very quickly. My friend swore she’d never come to that park with me again cos of her magpie fear!!! Until then, I never had any magpie problems πŸ™‚

I haven’t been attacked by ducks before, but we have some vicious crows in Canada that swoop down and grab your food! >:(

hehe..duck huh?…..well, around mac Uni, I’ve been attacked by magpies 3 times and they drew blood from hitting my ear each time……they even have signs sprayed on the trail now warning ppl about it!

as for asian groceries shop nearby…..you’re right….I dun think Mac Centre has one and Eastwood is at least 20 min walk away….altho i’d bet $5 that a bus does go from Mac Centre to eastwood….

What about Chris tho?…..it’s HIS job to chauffeur you whereever you want to go!

OMG I saw those magpie signs!! I was walking home by another route (cos the normal route was all slushy with the recent rain) and I saw a sign saying “warning! Magpies in the area” and got really nervous, thinking I’d be dive-bombed by one or something.
Chris works full time too.. which is good ‘cos we earn heaps of $$, but bad ‘cos we don’t get to see each other often :T

Speaking of Ducks

Acutally funny you mentioning that u can’t believe there are ducks… A week or two ago when it was pelting with rain, Lo and behold I looked in my swimming pool and there were two ducks swimming in it. I went down to take a photo but they got scared away. Never seen a duck in the suburb for 20 yrs..although I do live near water…

The ones I saw flew away when they saw me.. I got no quacking treatment.

Re: Speaking of Ducks

Awww that’s really cute! We’ve never had ducks in our pool, but I used to keep 2 pet ducks near our pool, does that count? πŸ˜›
