Re: humm

Visas are needed to work in countries you aren’t a citizen of to protect the citizens of that country, the job market and unemployment. I thought you knew everything about the government, Juanita. It sucks in individual cases but on the whole it is needed.

Sorry about the job, Bev. Is there a microsoft branch in Sing? Maybe that Mark guy could put in a good word for you down the road.

Re: humm

Yeah, there’s MS in Singapore too.. I’ll apply to both when I graduate, and I’ll definitely ask Mark to at least put in a good word for me with the one in Australia, Singapore too if possible! Now, working there permanently full time after my degree would be a *dream*..

Re: humm

boy SOMEONE here is a huge bitch!

im guessing from Laundromatic.net only THOSE girls would have that type of attitude.
anyway**I**WASNT**AWARE**THAT**THIS**JOB**WAS**IN**ANOTHER**COUNTRY**SO**FUCK**OFF**BITCH!

Re: humm

lol! now that I read it makes me crack up too!
I usually have to speak *s l o w l y* to some girls on that site cause they just LOVE to push the trigger when they dont even have target.

oh h migosh.
*exhales*
that is INSANE!!!
hell, if i’m this frustrated,
you’re probably feeling 10000000x
much much more than that —
i am so sorry, hun.

πŸ™

No kidding! I want to laugh at the craziness of the situation, scream at how frustrating it is, and cry with regret – all at the same time. Crappy crappy crappy.. well, I guess in 1.5 years when I graduate, I’ll send my first resume off to MIcrosoft – and they BETTER employ me then! πŸ˜›

Its the same thing when I was in the states. And when I did get a job after graduation, the company who wanted to hire me had to prove the no US citizens wanted my job.

On a side note, have you checked with your university about internship, work-study or practical training? You might not need a visa.

Bleah.. so it’s all over the world. I know that once I graduate, I can get a full working visa independantly though,.. and I think it’s the same in Singapore? ‘Cos Chris plans to go to SG after we graduate, so we’re hoping he can get a working visa first before applying for jobs..

I actually found the MIcrosoft job through my Uni! I guess all the job offers are more catered towards citizens, and not for international students.. oh well :T

According to my dad, all you need is to get a company to offer you a job to get a work visa in Singapore. I’m don’t think there is a requirement to see if any Singaporeans want it or not. I’ve not really investigated this (since there is no need for me). Check with the Singapore embassy to be sure!

Oh cool, that’s good news.. πŸ™‚ DO you or your dad know if someone can apply for a full work visa in Singapore, independently? ‘Cos Chris was hoping he could get a visa before even getting a job.. so the company wouldn’t have the hassle of having to apply for a visa for him – which may make them think it’s not worth the trouble and just not accept him because they don’t want the hassle of getting one for him!

In situations like this one can’t really say something to make it better. πŸ™ It’ll be okay Bev, this may seem horrible right now, but I’m sure in the future you’ll realize that it happened for a reason. *love*

Thanks Malinda *hugs*.. maybe it just wasn’t meant to be. I guess it also means I don’t have to delay my degree and can graduate sooner, since I won’t be taking a year off, so it means I get out in the work force in a real career quicker too..

You’re telling me! I wish they were.. but now it’s just the law that I’m against, so I know I won’t win. Basically, since I’m an international student, they don’t want me working full-time – presumably because then I’ll take the job away from an Australian and/or take away the money from the country when I leave.
The only way I can is if the company sponsors me – but to do that, microsoft has to prove that they can’t find an Australian to do the job and I’m the *only* one that can. And that isn’t possible since they can quite easily get an Australian to do it :T It really sucks though, I wish I was Australian now πŸ™
