Speaking of masks!

Hey πŸ™‚ Do you know the Commerce Ball theme is also masquerade as well. I know cos i’m dragging friends there next week. So if you get desparate you could probably mask scab off someone who’s doing that.

When i went to my yr 12 formal back a few years ago, I had a friend, who got her face painted in the shape of a mask, which was pretty cool, she had silver paint over half of her face in the mask shape and some feathers from her temple. Pretty funky, but yeh, depends if you like it!

And if you want the el cheapo way, find a craft store selling a mask, and spray it silver and decorate it with glitter and sequins. My church luckily had a holiday program and we had silver masks for dress up, so I’m scabbing one of those (they’ll throw it away anyhow) and I get to decorate it…. must spray the chopstick holding it up in silver first … πŸ™‚

Anyhow GL with it all. πŸ™‚

Re: Speaking of masks!

Yeah? Only thing is that THEY’LL probably scab masks of US, since their ball is after ours πŸ˜› My friend told me there’s a magic shop in the city (next to David Jones) that has a whole wall of masks.. so we’re all going there this arvo to check it out.. they’re about $5-$10 so it’s not too bad!

Er… no body paint or make-your-own-mask for me – I am VERY unartistic and don’t even dare πŸ˜‰

Painted mask? reminds me of that Hamlet theme about people with many faces.. “God hath given you a face and you paint yourselves another!” Why did I bring that up? no idea! πŸ™‚

Me and a few friends did Ceramics as a Gen-Ed subject and my friend ended up making a half mask ala Phantom De L’Opera style…. it was pretty cool, but I don’t think you can wear ceramic. It’ll be too heavy, fall off and shatter into a million pieces.

Why did i bring that up? No idea either… i thik sleep’s in order πŸ™‚

I imagine it to be something like Hamlet too, ‘cos of all the painted masks around.. πŸ˜› I hope we won’t be expected to wear the darn things all evening though, they’ll be a hassle! Plus what if I kiss the wrong guy? hehehehehhe

Oh for the ceramics, they probably put it on a stick stuck on the side, and hold the mask up to the face.. that’s what the girls and I plan to do, ‘cos a mask that has a band around the head will probably smear makeup and ruin hair!

oooh… like those classy Masquerade thingies. Where gentle folk prance around in tailed suits holding masks on sticks and bowing and curtseying and such πŸ™‚ …. how fun….

Do I have too vivid an imagination?

Hi Bev, I know this is completely unrelated to this post, but I’m flying to Sydney in 2 days and will stay there for around a week, if you don’t mind, could you give me info on some cool places to hang out? Anything is okay, restos, cafes, anything. I love cosmetics as well, just like you do, so could you also let me know your fave make-up items so I could look for them while I’m in Sydney. I know for sure that I’ll check out Urban Decay πŸ™‚

Thanks a lot Bev!
*hugs*

Definitely Grace Bros and David Jones in the city.. also the QVB – all the are in the same area, which is on Elizabeth Street. Those places are awesome for shopping! There’s also Chatswood which is full of department stores as well as outdoor shops, and shopping’s great there too.. it’s in the North Shore and about 15-20mins by train from the city.

As for food, if you like seafood, Prymont Fish Markets can’t be missed! You’ll get the freshest seafood cooked there, and the food is awesome πŸ™‚

Thanks a lot Bev *hugs*

Btw, what’s your fave eye shadow brand (and the colour as well)?

And what eye shadow colour(s) do you think would be suitable for Asian gals (small eyes)?

Definitely Urban Decay.. I love ALL the colors! They are a lot so you’ll definitely find something you like there πŸ™‚
I think neutrals/taupes, greens and purples will look great.. and I especially love green e/s on eyes πŸ™‚

Thanks again Bev, I also think UD’s got fantastic e/s colours.

Btw, since you’re in Sydney, have u ever climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge before? I just went to the website and it looked hella cool, a bit expensive though =(

No way! I’m afraid of heights and I heard the wind and chill factor up there is really bad.. I also see it every week so it doesn’t seem as exciting to me anymore.. so I think it’s more of a touristy thing?

If you’re not up for the harbour bridge climb, catch a train up to Milson’s point or something and walk from North Sydney down to the Rocks across the harbour bridge (nice view of Opera house that way). I don’t know if its as nice as a climb but it is still a lovely walk especially if you take it around sunset or morning i guess if you’re an early bird. Then you’ll end up in the rocks and can stuff yourself with pancakes from pancakes on the rocks.

I think a shimmery beige e/s with a peachy/pink lip would look good! And maybe a bit of copper liner at the outer corner of your eye (well, both of them. lol).

Hey good point.. copper will probably be less OTT than gold. I want a more natural shimmery look rather than a dark smokey eyed look.. I think shimmery beiges and stuff like you said are the way to go!
