Of space and elves

wow. Ender’s Game is one of my favourite books, it’s a very intelligent read. You’d definitely love the rest of the Ender series. Actually, there are four books to the Ender series. You forgot Children of the Mind. These books are well-written and so hard to put down even when you feel like screaming at the characters because they’re soo… human. πŸ™‚

There’s also a parallel novel to the Ender’s Game, which is called Ender’s Shadow. This book is about Ender’s best friend, Bean, and how he was chosen to go to the Battle School. You definitely have to read this one. πŸ™‚ Very heart-wrenching.

As for LOTR, you only have to read the first book, Fellowship of the Ring. You could always pick up the other two books after watching the movie. Although I guarantee you that you’d be itching to read Two Towers to find out what happens next!!!

The movie is very well-made so I don’t think that you’d enjoy it less if you watched the movie before reading the book. As for me, I have read the book numerous times as a kid so after the movie, it made such a big impact on me. I *loved* the movie, and I *love* the book.

I hope you would enjoy the books and the movie too. πŸ™‚

Re: Of space and elves

I’ve heard of “Ender’s Shadow” through my boyfriend who keeps hassling me to read it! But it wasn’t at the library πŸ™ Haven’t heard of “Children of the Mind” either, but I”ll definitely keep a lookout for it! I assume this is the 4th part of the series?

As for LOTR, I think I’ll end up watching the movie first.. because it’s already out now. By the time I finish reading the whole Ender series and finish the LOTR books, it’ll probably be finished showing at the cinemas – it’s been out for quite awhile already!

i always read before seeing a movie so i can make my own mental pictures of everything in my head. if i watch a movie first then the actor’s face stays with me the whole time while i’m reading the book, which isn’t a good thing all the time.

I’d usually say “Watch the movie first”, since the books tend to be better – then you can get enjoyment twice. In this instance, definitely. (That’s what I did.) The film is fantastic, but the book delves into a lot greater detail. Also, the book’s length and complexity and style may prove initially off-putting, but as the last commenter says, the film inspires you to read it.

well, i don’t know i watched the movie first. wich was amazing. sorry couldn’t help myself i had to say that *wink* but anyways, seing the movie got me really motived to read the book ..ie finish reading the hobbit…my friend laura read the triologies a long time ago. she a fantic of myths and that kind of stuff. and she saw the movie. she love too. but she has certain regards on like the charcarters and stuff…since she knew the cut this and this. so i really don’t know. i think maybe it would be better to watch the movie first. if you want to get motivited to read the books and you want to know what is going to happen. cause the first movies finishes really weirdly. you know the kind of end you want to see the rest…so much.

I’d guess the book first, then you know what’s going on in the movie better and plus, you always hear the book versions of a story are better than movie ones.
