not the parents!!

Both the bride and groom should save up their money and pay for the do themselves! πŸ˜‰ I mean, an ideal “young young” age to get married would be right after uni, which is, what, 20? 21 years old? We spend 21 years of our lives mooching off our parents – allowance, a place to stay, water use, food consumption, etc. Marriage is a perfect opportunity to work TOGETHER to cross the first major life obstacle – PAYING THE BILLS! πŸ˜‰ Hehe…

i believe it should be both sets of parents.
or both the bride and groom.
I am origanlly from Turkey but spent most my life in the US so yeah.

well for me, i guess the best way is to have both girl and guy save up for the occassion maybe? i know some people who get wedding loans? but i don’t believe in starting out in debt.

well my mommy told me in Filipino tradition.. it’s the guy’s parents who pay.. it’s like the ladies get spoilt and worshipped… i like that πŸ™‚

I’m stupid

I forgot to add that I’m in Canada, and I think that may be how it works here, but I’m not entirely sure. Personally I think both sets parents should pay though.

Re: I’m stupid

Vavoom, just playing Devil’s Advocate here so don’t take it personally…

Let’s say both set of parents are paying. The couple goes, “Hey, let’s stick Mummy and Daddykins for as much as we can and go all out for the ice swan and real doves!” Should the parent’s still pay for it?

Re: I’m stupid

Well,if mom and dad are footing the bill, they also SHOULD be placing some sort of budget down first. So, they shouldn’t have to pay for every tiny detail if the budget doesn’t allow for it. Heh…But it doesn’t matter in my case…My parents are so NOT footing the bill. πŸ˜€

Personally, I think both the groom and bride should pay and not depend on the bride’s Mommy and Daddy to foot the bill but tradition says otherwise (screw tradition). I’m originally from Cuba (living in the US now) but I’ve been here since I was 2 (I’m 19 now) so I don’t know what tradition is over there but I’ll ask around.

in my country where i was born (bulgaria) it ‘s the groom parent’s. but since i’ve been living in canada for over 10 years (it ‘s moore home to me than bulgaria) it s i think here (well that’s how i see it) , it ‘s the groom & the bride toguether you pay for the weeding and if they need help with the money. they will asked their s family and stuff.

well…

Traditionally, I think it’s the bride’s parents that pay for the wedding, but when I get married, I’m going to be pretty much on my own. They might help out a bit, but it’s going to be mine and my fiance’s responsibility.
